Funding committee recommended everything but xmas night food, snack cap $100. adam asked how many people, 150 on facebook last year, 100 expected
approved by consensus. eduardo asked how often snack/dinner in-between situation happens.
Film festival 16 years. Previous years only undergrad free screening, GSC gave $2500 for printing, free tickets, more than 500 students went, entry access to the whole festival. wendy asked whether 500 were all students. confirmed 500 were all grad students. After Sep 19th, announce film selections. Voting for next meeting. Wendy talked about showing films in dorms and UNAFF could potentially work with the CAs.
NGSO events- Cathy Sep 15th starts. Used to be welcome brunch. Last year pizza party, Ideas include tea time, bbqs. GSC mock meeting, without free meal attendance lower, free dinner last year by CAs in dorms at the same time. Speedfriending at the same night but starts only at 8m. Need to advertise so that other CAs don’t schedule at the same time. In the past, 200 ppl showed up. Cathy said Sunday has a welcome dinner too. Trevor suggests Welcome dinner as first event’s name, Information session plus dinner as the second event’s name. Wendy mentioned how GSB schedule may conflict.
Lyman- CAs:Townhall meeting on 30th at 6pm. Housing is going to address some of the concerns. Original intention to proceed with an approval vote from GHAC. 220 undergrad oak creek, fall abroad and when come back stuck in Oak Creek. Oak creek management complains about them. Undergrads don’t have their own space. 8am-10pm community space. Retirees etc live there. Lyman also has 220 beds. Only talked to one Lyman CA. Housing is putting the burden on Lyman to find an alternative. Mobility & access a big concern, community aspect- 24/7 open access laundry, bbq, etc. GHAC same rent, CAs etc but nothing in writing. Housing wants to move ppl to east campus. Ppl chose Lyman because they want to live on the west side of campus. And it’s the building for students with mobility issue. Oak Creek not the same, who to call in case of emergency, school or police or anything. Allegedly terrible yelp review of the management. CAs suggested a survey to EV. Cathy mentioned undergrads live in Rains. CAs believe Oak creek is potentially just temporary and the future doesn’t seem like a long term commitment. Cathy mentioned the distance to be 0.4 vs 0.7 miles for Lyman vs Oak Creek and other equivalent buildings do exist on the east side. Lyman CAs want to have a decision together with other CAs but Housing is pushing for the deadline. Eduardo asked about the status in terms of the transfer process. CAs mentioned not same facility. Community might fall apart. Eduardo suggests the possibility of drawing a section of EV for undergrads. Cathy mentioned Studio 2 as an option. GSC will rely more on the CAs. Eduardo talked about issues with undergrad population admits. Lyman want to invite CAs from Studio 2. Cathy suggested try to get the best out of the situation, given the unlikeliness of Housing changing mind. Studio 2 doesn’t have a strong community. Issue about 2 beds per studio. Studio 2 has enough beds confirmed Cathy.
