Next to advocacy and funding, programming is the third major function of the Graduate Student Council. The GSC Programming Committee both organizes major in-house events for students, as well as cosponsors activities and events with Stanford Community Associates, the Graduate Student Programming Board, and students not affiliated with a VSO. Our goal is to host diverse events for the graduate population that foster community, discourse, and fun.
Events organized by the GSC include the Graduate Winter Formal, the Fall Welcome Party, the Spring Launch Party, Thanksgiving Dinner, the Fourth of July BBQ, Grad Night at Flicks. Cosponsored events include I-GALA, the Valentine's Day Party, the Halloween Party, and the EV Family Carnival. The Graduate Student Lottery Dinners are funded by the GSC, and implemented by the GSPB.
Students with interesting ideas for events but who are not affiliated with a VSO, and therefore unable to obtain funding through the traditional methods of the GSC Funding Committee, should contact the Programming Coordinator. In general, the GSC is interested in funding major activities that appeal to a large number of graduate students. Students interested in hosting smaller scale events should contact the Graduate Student Programming Board. Your GSC Programming Coordinators for 2007-2008 are:
