Cathy is here, she is the faculty staff cochair of the BJA. Also came to hear feedback. Wendy asks, are we voting on the final version of the wording? They say this is draft wording, and before they can move forward they want to revise the draft wording.
Advertising GSC Election
Arushi came up with a nice graphic for advertising the election. Want to make sure it looks pretty good. 1 days, half page is $400. 1/4 page is $200 per day.
Wendy asks what about flyering, maybe we can hire someone to do it? Can Arushi’s graphic be put on a flyer? Yes it can. Arushi says, we’re trying to get the ads out so others can know about the GSC, come to meetings before elections, they can apply for the elections. Sebas says if you want to put an ad in Facebook, only 1/3 can be text, the rest needs to be images. There is a price difference for running the ad on print version or online version of the Daily.
Ateeq’s Bill for Storage Lunch
We question Ernestine via Skype. If they don’t get the money there’s no food at the event. We need to suspend the rules and vote on this bill, it is $375 for food at the event. Wendy reads out GSPB funding guidelines: propose the event at the GSPB meeting, need to provide info/logistical info/budget, limit is about $300-$400. GSPB can also not fund student groups. This event seems perfect for it. Voting on suspending the rules. Passes 8 for, 3 against, 0 abstaining. Now voting on bill, which is to allocate $375 for the storage lunch event. Voting, 9 for, 2 against, 0 abstaining. The bill passes. Reinstate rules.
UGS passed a resolution to divest from companies which contribute to the oppression of Palestinians. They want to bring the resolution to the GSC. Straw poll is taken on our interest.
