-Housing update moved back to Feb 15, they will be coming to the GSC meeting then.
-2/8 Vaden team coming to talk about the CAPS program and how it can better address mental health issues in the grad student population.
-DAC ppl talked to Pau, there was issue with stipend, they also want to be more involved with GSC, so they will come to next meeting to present and get more ppl engaged, they also want to attend meetings every other week or something similar. In previous years it was always someone on the GSC doing DAC, this year it’s different, so it would be nice to have them involved.
-At last GHAC meeting, there was talk of rearranging the Nairobi room, maybe rearranging furniture and putting in TV, when they come present on the 15th this will be an opportunity for us to tell them what we want. GSC is splitting the cost with them on these updates. Trevor says that we might have documents from past years about similar things, David will look for it. Ongoing discussion.
-Pau and Ateeq are on the financial manager selection committee for the SSE, this committee recommends a candidate for appointment to the legislative bodies. That committee has been convened, making decision on whether to re-appoint the current FM or get a new one. This might be a thing coming up in the near future.
-GHAC also wants another info session about housing after the housing lottery, which is around April.
-First, next Wed at 12-1pm there’s the housing info session, she will send out matl for it tonight, please come help set up, off-campus CA program will also help her out too. She is bringing a lawyer to talk about legal issues regarding off-campus appointments. A person from housing office is also coming to answer questions about it. Jennifer Padilla from housing is coming. There’s a ppt presentation too.
-Second, she introduced a bill for the Valentine’s Day party, we do it every year. Organized by Grad Life Office and EV CAs. Asking for $4500, which is $1k more than last year, because photobooth ppl and characturist can’t do it unless we do 2 of each instead of 1. Not because of the alcohol, which we will get 8 kegs and many bottles of wine. Thinking of doing a raffle too, give away a teddy bear or something. Will be Fri Feb 10 at Hacienda Commons. Isa suggests maybe the Maple Pavilion? She will look into it. Total budget is roughly $7k.
Bill to Confirm Graduate Elections Commissioner

Isa says that the tickets were already sold out on Monday when they came for the funding meeting. They’ve already sold 180 tickets. They are also inviting alumni and faculty so they are capped at the room capacity. Voting on $5400 recommended amount, passes unanimously with 1 abstention. Rosie motions to vote on the additional $100 beyond the cap, passes unanimously with 1 opposed.

-Summary: they are part of club sports, which is now funded by undergrad fees since the grad population didn’t want to fund club sports. The team is part of that, they told funding committee that it’s around 50% grads and 50% undergrads, they are coming for help for transportation fees because there’s an event in Alabama and they will be flying out there. Isa explained to them what the GSC funds, they do fund per-event basis and it must be open to all and there’s a $30 per person cap. She gave them the idea that we could help them with fundraising. At the end, they were asking for too much money per person. Tianze says, most importantly they are against our guidelines explicitly.
-Ateeq says, people from Frost festival reached out to him to follow up on funding we gave them last year and give him an update on what’s going on. They’ve been looking into how to form a graduate student group similar to Viennese ball. Ateeq also gave them advice on posters, memorabilia items, having a GSC booth there, and finding grad students to participate in the planning. Isa says, last time they came with a funding request, we suggested that they go through a joint fee to make sure that grad students want this and so that they wouldn’t need to go through the GSC. Should find out if they applied for special fees or not.
-Frost is being renovated for the next couple of years, expanding capacity etc. This year Frost won’t be at Frost, it will be at the Football stadium, and it costs more money to do it there because they have to build the stage from scratch. They are asking for more funding, Ateeq is asking them for a breakdown of attendance and funding of last year’s Frost event. Trevor says that there might be various pots of money to help fund events like this. The capacity this year will also be a lot bigger. Will be on May 15/14 weekend. Grad formal is the week before.
-Ruth Ginsburg is coming on the 6th, sign up for the lottery!
