Ateeq is a second year PhD student in Mechanical Engineering. This is his second year on the GSC as an elected member, and has been involved in several committees and initiatives within the GSC. Currently Ateeq is working on implementing a new Mentoring program for PhD students through the Career Development Center (CDC). He is also well informed with international student issues and housing issues, and continues to advocate them. While Ateeq is not doing academics or research, he enjoys playing sports such as Tennis and Golf, along with watching movies and playing video games.

Ernestine is the current representative for Education. At Stanford, Ernestine designed a new major, initiated an entrepreneurship course, and served as a student representative on the Board of Trustees. She is currently coauthoring a book with Professor Tom Ehrlich. Prior to serving on the GSC, Ernestine served as Executive Director and Member-At-Large of ASSU’s Students Services Division, where she perhaps most recognized for enabling Shuttle Service to meet its peak revenue and operate as profitable for the first time ever. This year, she is excited to facilitate opportunities to improve education, especially through technology.

Cathy is a third year PhD student in EE who spends her time thinking about multimode fibers and photonic crystal sensors. She is one of the Social Events Coordinators of the GSC. Collectively, they put on at least one large grad-wide event per quarter, including but not limited to the summer BBQ, a Welcome Back Party in late September, and Grad Formal. Cathy is also one of the head CAs in EV and is always looking for ways to enrich every student’s graduate school experience.

Wendy is a second-year PhD student in Electrical Engineering with a research focus in Magnetic Resonance Imaging for clinical neuroimaging. As a non-elected member of the GSC, Wendy is the Auditor of the Funding Committee and point of contact for Healthcare Advocacy.

Nipun is the current GSC Chief Financial Officer and at-large representative. Originally from India, he moved to Stanford to pursue his graduate studies in Management Science & Engineering where he is focussing on Economics and Finance.
As the Financial Officer, Nipun has been looking to ensure transparency in the governing council, and efficiently manage the funds to enrich the experience of the Stanford graduate community.
