
PhD Student Leadership Team Member Application 2012-2013
Seeking PhD students committed to launching a
campus-wide mentoring program for the graduate student community.
SAM currently exists at the undergraduate and master degree level and has been piloted in 3 PhD areas. This is a new leadership team being established by the Career Development Center to pro vide support, guidance and growth to the current Stanford Alumni Mentoring Program https://mentoring.stanford.edu to include PhD students in the schools of Humanities & Sciences, Engineering, Earth Sciences and Education.
Please complete this short SAM PhD Leadership Application* by August 6, 2012. In person and SKYPE interviews will be on a rolling basis.
The SAM Graduate Leadership Team will consist of 6-8 PhD students representing the following areas:
- Earth Sciences
- Education
- Engineering
- Humanities
- Natural Sciences
- Social Sciences
Roles & Responsibilities
- Participate as a mentee 2 hrs per month minimum
- Ability to commit an average of 1-3 hours per week
- 2 team meetings per month (TBD) with the SAM Program Manager and Coordinator
- Quarterly meeting with undergraduate SAM leadership team
- Take on a specific project/task in 1 or more of the following areas
- assessment
- general alumni recruitment
- student outreach
- student orientations
- advise SAM Program Manager & Coordinator and provide guidance and input on the SAM program
- each member is responsible for recruiting 20 alumni
